Groby (pronounced Grooby) is situated about 5 miles northwest of the city of Leicester, in the county of Leicestershire, England, UK. The village has historical connections with two English Queens, Elizabeth Woodville (wife of Edward IV) and Lady Jane Grey.
Once a mining village with slate and granite quarries, Groby has expanded rapidly since the 1970s as it is well placed for those travelling into the city of Leicester and also ideally situated for those wanting to use the motorway network.
Today, Groby consists of approximately 7,500 residents, with a housing total of about 3,500.
