In line with national guidance on social distancing, large outdoor events across the country have had to be scaled back or moved online this year including Remembrance Sunday services and parades.
In Hinckley, a service to mark Armistice and pay tribute to the fallen was led by Reverend Gary Weston, Churches Together Representative and attended in line with government regulations by the Mayor of Hinckley & Bosworth Councillor Lynda Hodgkins, representatives of the Royal British Legion and Veterans Groups, Civic Leaders, the town’s Uniformed Organisations and the Borough Council.
Photographs from the event were shared on the council’s social media accounts.
Mayor of Hinckley & Bosworth Councillor Lynda Hodgkins said:
It is a real pity that this event could not take place in its usual way this year, but it is important we do everything we can to keep infection rates down. The Remembrance Sunday service is always a very moving occasion and I was honoured to be taking the salute on behalf of the borough.
