Bradgate Park’s new car park barrier system to start
Bosses at Bradgate Park have installed a new barrier-operated car parking system at one of their sites.
Visitors in vehicles will now have their registration number logged via ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) when they enter the car park at Newtown Linford.
The system, which allows a 10-minute drop-off, will start operating from Wednesday, May 26.
A Bradgate Park Trust spokesperson said on social media: “How will this work: on arrival you will enter the car park via the entry barrier where your vehicle registration will be logged.
“You can then park and enjoy your walk in our fabulous park.
“Before getting back in your vehicle, proceed to the two pay stations located between the black wrought iron gates and the blue badge parking bays.
“Enter your registration details and make your payment – card and cash accepted, change given.
“Once payment has been made, make your way back to your vehicle and exit via the normal exit route where the barrier will lift to allow you to exit.”
All other car parks will remain pay and display as normal, said the spokesperson.
Permit holders will be able to enter and exit as normal, they added.
Many people on Facebook welcomed the move.
One person said: “This is much easier and better system to use.”
Another said: “No more scrounging for coins.”
Another posted: “Ooh much better.”
A visitor asked: “Do you have a short term rate, e.g. if you are dropping someone off at the park?”
The trust replied: “There is a 10 minute drop-off time.”
