Burglaries alert

PLEASE BE AWARE

There have been two burglaries on DISCOVERY CLOSE COALVILLE in AUGUST 2021 alone. Both happened while the occupants were away on holiday and jewellery was stolen.
The first burglary is believed to have happened on 19/08/2021 where a small window was smashed and then opened from inside to gain entry. A significant amount of jewellery was stolen. Crime report 21000467848 refers.
The second and most recent burglary happened on 31/08/2021 during the early hours of the morning. Jewellery and coins were stolen. French doors were smashed to gain entry. Crime report 21000505008 refers.

Tips to consider when you go on holiday:
• Lock your doors and outbuildings such as garages and sheds
• Always close and lock windows – Don’t leave keys in the locks or in view
• Don’t leave any items such as bags, laptops and cash on display
• Set your intruder alarm if you have one
• Leave a light on or set timers
• Let trusted neighbours, family or friends know you’re going away – maybe they can park a car
on your drive while you’re away
• Do you have someone who has a key and can check on your property regularly?
• If you have CCTV check it is working correctly
• Be mindful of what you share on social media
