County pub to launch Pizza Shed serving takeaway wood-fired pizzas
Pizza fans in and around Glenfield are set for a treat, as village pub The Forge Inn is about to launch The Pizza Shed.
The new wood-fired Neapolitan pizza takeaway is opening for the first time this Saturday, March 13, from 12pm until 9pm, and promises an incredible array of artisan pizzas.
Made with dough that has been proved for 24 hours, the pizzas are cooked in a wood-fired oven at 450 degrees for just 90 seconds – so you won’t have to wait long for your takeaway.
Priced from £10, there’s six pizza toppings to choose from, all of which have a base of slow cooked crushed Italian tomato and basil sauce.
There’s margherita (Italian tomato, fresh basil and mozzarella with garlic infused oil), pepperoni (spicy salami and pepperoni, mozzarella and Red Leicester with chillli flakes and extra virgin olive oil) and truffle lover (chestnut mushroom, purple sprouting broccoli and mozzarella plus fresh thyme and truffle infused rapeseed oil).
There’s also chicken ranch (chicken breast, red peppers, pancetta and mozzarella, with wild roquette and ranch dressing), pancetta (cured pork belly, chestnut mushrooms and fresh thyme, with mozzarella, garlic infused olive oil and wild roquette) and country special sausage (award-winning sausage meatballs, pancetta, oregano and Red Leicester, plus chilli flakes and wild roquette).
You can even get crust dipping sauces, including jalapeno and mint, fresh pesto, blue cheese and garlic aioli.
The Pizza Shed will be open on Saturdays only until the pub garden reopens when outdoor hospitality restrictions are eased – which, according to the government’s roadmap, will be April 12 at the earliest.
Then, the menu will be enhanced with further offerings, which customers will be able to sit and enjoy with their beer.
This Saturday, customers can go along to The Pizza Shed and place their orders. For future weeks, an online ordering system will be put into place.
The Forge Inn, which is part of the Beautiful Pubs Collective, is also home to The Blacksmith’s Deli, which is open from 10am until 4pm Tuesday to Sunday.
The food selection includes the pub’s popular hothob baguettes, pub-baked breads, cakes, fresh meats, cheeses, samosas and pies. You can also get takeaway hot drinks, as well as fine wines and mini kegs of Everards ales to enjoy at home.
