Delays on new car park system at Bradgate Park
The new barrier-operated car park system at Bradgate Park was switched off just a day after it went operational and it has still not returned
Bosses at the popular park said the system would go live again after the half term break which ended on Friday, June 4.
Almost three weeks later, the Newtown Linford car park is still operating using the old pay and display method.
The new system is supposed to log the registration number of any vehicle wanting to use the car park via automatic number plate recognition (ANPR).
A spokesperson for Bradgate Park told LeicestershireLive: “Our new ANPR system is not yet operational as we are carrying out some further work before it goes live to ensure it runs as smoothly as possible.”
“Technical issues” were to blame for the new parking system being turned off last month on Wednesday, May 26.
It was introduced to allow a 10-minute drop-off but it had to revert back to pay and display just 24 hours later.
A Trust spokesperson posted a message on their Facebook site alerting visitors of the “teething problems.”

It said: “We will have no option but to revert back to pay & display until such time that the technical issues with ANPR are addressed.
“So on arrival please pay at one of our pay & display machines in the car park and then correctly display your ticket in your window screen. Bradgate Park are so sorry for any inconvenience caused.
“Please bear with us as this facility is new to us too, together we can all overcome any teething problems. If you have any issues in this car park we will have staff there to assist over the weekend.”
An expected date of completion has not been confirmed but the Trust say they are continuing to work towards re-introducing the new system soon.
