Ford Fiesta Titanium Thefts Facebook Scams Parking And Arrest (Leicestershire Police)

Hello residents of Burbage,

There have been several incidents of vehicle crime over the last week so please keep a look out. Please report suspicious activity immediately to 101 or 999. Please also consider steering locks and the usual crime prevention. Get in touch via the “REPLY” at the bottom of this email if you need anything.

Theft of vehicle registration plates from a white Vauxhall Corsa on Featherston Drive sometime between 22:00 on the 25th and 05:00 on the 26th February.

During patrols a vehicle was stop checked in the area of Watling Street on the 26th of February. One arrest was made and the vehicle was seized. One person made off at around 10am. We received several calls regarding a male jumping gardens around the Wolvey Road and Broadsword Way area between 10:00 and 11:00 on the 26th. If you have any CCTV showing this male, please get in touch as this incident is under investigation. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk Crime number 22000114526

A Ford Fiesta Titanium has been stolen from an address on Duport Road (Far Lash end), sometime between 12:00 on the 27th and 08:00 on the 28th. This appears to be a keyless entry.

Also on Far Lash (towards Forresters Road), another Ford Fiesta Titanium was stolen between 17:00 on the 27th and 08:00 on the 28th of February. This also appears to be a keyless entry.

If you, a friend or neighbour own a Ford Fiesta Titanium, please consider car key wallets (I have some for £2 each). Also consider steering locks, blocking your vehicle in, using a garage or driveway bollards. We have been very good for vehicle crime in Burbage until this incident so please stay vigilant.

I continue to receive complaints regarding parking and vehicles in the village. I put out a social media post to raise awareness and hope the community can work together to address the issues. Leicestershire Police and Leicestershire County Council have different powers to address all types of offences. Police do not issue parking fines. There are 150 streets in Burbage and thousands of vehicles. Whilst every attempt is made to deal with vehicles, please understand we are not always able to attend. If the vehicle is causing immediate danger, you can call 101. Residents need to work together to make life easier and safer for each other. I am currently spending a lot of time working with local primary schools and the county council to address immediate safety concerns. There tends to be a lot of confusion around where vehicles can and cannot park and what powers Police/LCC have. Some of the answers can be found here

We have been in touch with Leicestershire County Council following further issues on the Sketchley Brook Estate by the Hansom Cab. This followed and accident on the A5 and lorry drivers ended up on the residential estate. We will hopefully see some temporary signs going up on the island and permanent signs on the A5/M69 ensuring drivers are aware there is no entrance to DPD via the estate.

We also continue to receive messages regarding Facebook scams. This may involve adverts that you will see. Please be careful what adverts you are clicking on as i believe that adverts (pop ups etc) are not checked by Facebook. I would advice avoiding these types of adverts or check out their website and reviews first. Do your research and never give your bank details out. Also be careful if you are selling items online. There has been an incident of somebody not getting paid for an item they sold. People online may use fraudulent ID which makes it very difficult to track the person involved.

Please ask your partners, family and friends to sign up to neighbourhood link. Crime can affect everyone so please get them signed up. We appreciate you may not sit at the dinner table discussing our emails so send them this link to ensure they get the messages direct https://www.neighbourhoodlink.co.uk/#signup-section
