Happy New Year Newsletter and Suspicious Van (Leicestershire Police)
We hope you had a good New Year and all the best for this year. Please see attached our monthly newsletter and update on crime in Burbage. Thank you for all of your support and lovely comments/feedback this year. It has been great way to keep the communication going, raise awareness and reduce crime in the area.
A resident has been in touch to notify us of a suspicious vehicle around Highgrove close/Kensington Avenue area on Tuesday 28th December at around 23:20. The vehicle is described as a small white van. If you have any information or CCTV of this, please drop me an email Darren.stretton@leicestershire.pnn.police.uk
Damage was caused to a garden wall on Higham Way (close to Atkins way junction) on the night of the 23rd December. Please get in touch if you saw/heard anything. Crime number 21000746819.
A valve appears to have been stolen from the radiator pipe of a camper van on Sketchley Road (near the Pyeharps Road junction). This appears to be targeted due to the type of vehicle. The incident happened sometime between 16:00 on the 29th and 09:15 on the 30th December. Get in touch if you saw anyone suspicious in the area.
Late night New years Eve patrols around the village including areas such as Kensington Avenue, Lutterworth Road and Hinckley Road.
Please take a minute to consider the security of your vehicle and pass the message onto friends, family and neighbours. Do not leave keys in vehicles “to just pop in” or whilst you are defrosting the windows with the colder weather coming up. Every year there tends to be at least one theft due to this and with recent targeted thefts of delivery vans, it is worth being extra careful.
There have been several incidents of keyless vehicle crime and residential burglary related to keyless car crime recently in the Hinckley and Blaby area. Areas affected over recent days include Cosby, Earl Shilton and Stoney Stanton.
Please be vigilant if you have a keyless vehicle or a high powered vehicle at your property.
Lots can be done to reduce the risk of criminals targeting your vehicle such as steering locks, driveway bollards, blocking your car in and RFID wallets. We have a supply of the RFID wallets (sold at cost £2 each) so drop me an Email if you want any.
Please remember to call 999 (emergency) or 101 (non-emergency) immediately if you see anything suspicious. These incidents usually happen with another high powered vehicle in convoy, so if you manage to get registration details, please pass them onto us.
Thank you for your time and take care,
Darren 6035
