Merry Christmas Patrols Allotments Vehicles and Trading Standards (Leicestershire Police)

We hope these messages keep you informed and up to date with local events which can hopefully raise awareness and reduce crime in the area. A great community spirit, looking out for friends, family and neighbours will help keep Burbage a great place to live.
Elm Tree Drive catalytic converter theft. The incident happened on the 16th December at around 22:45. The vehicle involved was a Honda Jazz. The incident is being investigated but get in touch if you have any information and have not already contacted us. Crime number 21000732257.
We have had several incidents like this over recent weeks. Vehicles targeted tend to be Hybrid vehicles such as Prius, Tacoma, Lexus, Accord and SUV’s. This is due to the precious metals in the converter. Late night/overnight patrols
We have been and are continuing to complete evening/overnight patrols in Burbage. Multiple stops checks completed. Even though many of you may not see us about, please be assured we are. The picture below is a tracker of one of the patrols completed this week by PC Sharpe, me (Darren) and support from other Hinckley officers. Remember to call 101 or 999 immediately if you see anything of concern.

A report of damage on Blackways Meadows Allotments (off Brookside). Areas like this are very difficult to Police or secure but please remember not to leave any tools or valuables in sheds or on site. We historically have suffered breaks to allotments over the Christmas/New year period when there are not many people about.

A few messages from residents
“Just to make people aware. My sister went to get money out from an outside cash machine, she had neither the money nor card returned. She told the shop, they said she was the fourth person to mention this. We then discovered £500 had gone from the account.” (This was not a cash machine in Burbage) Please be mindful when withdrawing cash or carrying cash around. If you have any concerns/suspicions please call 101 or 999 immediately and inform your bank to cancel the card and check for withdrawals.
“Hi want to report an Email scam regarding Netflix, your Netflix account was paid but did not processed correctly please give your card details to the link below.
I do not and never have subscribed to Netflix.”
“I received an email purporting to be from the NHS regarding the Green Pass. I went so far until it asked for bank details etc. On a previous screen it asked for Mother’s maiden name. On reading again, one thing stands out at the beginning. It starts, Hi & then puts an email address.”
Remember if you have any concerns, go directly to the relevant website, not through links as many of these scams may look official.
