Rugby Road park improvements | Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council

Works to improve drainage and reduce the risk of flooding are due to begin at Rugby Road Park on Monday (4 October).

The works, which are expected to be completed in the spring, are being carried out by the developer of the Sketchley Brook site under the terms of the planning agreement with the Borough Council.

The remedial works must be satisfactorily completed before responsibility for the park is handed over to either Burbage Parish or Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council who will then become responsible for any future maintenance.

Visitors to the park are being made aware that it will be necessary to fence off areas of the park whilst the works are in progress. This is necessary for safety reasons as well as to protect the newly landscaped areas while they become established.

Matthew Bowers, Director (Environment and Planning) at Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council said:

We at the Borough Council along with our colleagues at Burbage Parish Council apologise for any inconvenience these works may cause. We would ask visitors to the park to bear with us as the works are necessary and essential to ensure the park is handed over to the public in the best possible condition and with a reduced risk of flooding in the future.
