South Leicester Police – Appeal (Leicestershire Police)
Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a 45-year-old man was assaulted in the Saffron Lane area of Leicester earlier this morning (Tuesday 2 November).
Around 6am a report was received of a fight in Burnaston Road, at the junction with Saffron Lane.
When officers attended the victim was found with serious head injuries. He was taken to hospital where he remains in serious condition. Shortly before the incident two people stole a bike from an alleyway at the side of a house in Saffron Lane and officers believe these two incidents may be linked.
A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) and burglary. He remains in police custody.
Anyone who witnessed either incident or has any information about the circumstances leading up to the assault is asked to get in touch. Also, if anyone was driving in the area this morning and has video recording equipment installed on their vehicles they are asked to check the footage and contact us if they captured anything that may assist with the investigation.
