Update for Burbage Police Tools and Work Together (Leicestershire Police)

Hello,

We hope you are keeping well, thank you for the ratings and feedback. Every one of them is very much appreciated.

No reported residential Burglary or vehicle theft in Burbage recently. It has now been around a month since there has been a residential burglary and around 2 months since a residential vehicle theft in Burbage. This is really good but please continue to be mindful especially if you have any holidays coming up.

Theft of tools from a van parked on The Jurys Inn Hotel overnight on the 16th-17th. Entrance was gained through forcing the drivers side lock. A couple of bags of tools were taken. Please remember to remove tools from vehicles as these types of people are in the area.

Business Burglary on Sketchley Meadows industrial estate. Incident occurred at 18:10 on 17th of February. A van was involved and some specialist items taken and the shutters to the unit  were damaged. The investigation is ongoing but get in touch if you were in the area and saw anything of interest 22000095929.

You may remember a vehicle that was stolen in early December from Salem Road. This vehicle has been recovered. The keeper has been updated.

We previously put out a message warning about the use of mobile phones whilst driving. These Neighbourhood Link messages often find there way to local newspapers and other online sites. There have been comments as to why we warn people not to behave in this manner, and we should “just arrest them”. Police have given crime prevention advice for years whether it be the “drink drive” TV campaigns, crime prevention events, drugs prevention talks to schools and much more. The aim of all of the advice and prevention material we put out is to prevent lives being lost and people being hurt.

There are around 150 streets in Burbage and thousands of vehicles passing through on a daily basis. For example, around 1200 vehicles head towards Rugby Road from Coventry Road on a daily basis. No amount of Policing would be able to monitor this amount of activity 24 hours a day. Roads policing is also just a part of our job. This is why we ask for support from residents and try to change behaviours, especially in areas where there is a higher probability of risk such as Schools.

We do issue speeding tickets when completing events, complete home visits, send letters, make phone calls amongst much more to ensure there are consequences.

We do what we can locally with the resource we have to address the complaints we receive around pavement parking, speeding and dangerous driving but resource is limited and agencies such as LCC are the correct agency to deal with parking tickets, yellow lines and grass verge issues. You can call 101 as and when there is an immediate obstruction to a person trying to pass. We will generally try to locate the keeper and remove the obstruction.

If you are unsure about Emails or text messages, it is best not to click on the links but just search them yourself as the scam sites will “clone” legitimate sites and it will be very hard to see the difference.

Thank you for your time and take care,
